responding to The Opioid Crisis

Tuolumne County has had the highest rate of prescribed opioids for over 6 years and opioid related deaths have increased more than 10 times since 2018. Illicit fentanyl surpassed prescriptions as the cause of opioid related overdoses in 2022.

Despite these grim statistics, prescription rates have improved and partnerships and efforts to prevent and treat addiction have increased with the goal to turn the tide and optimize outcomes.

Getting help

There are a range of treatment services countywide, including specialized treatment services and referrals for youth and adults coping with addiction.

Safe Prescribing

Safe Prescriber education addresses the opioid epidemic by training prescribers to respond before opioids are prescribed. The Tuolumne County Opioid Coalition coordinates opioid safety education activities for providers in the county.

Working together

We invite you to join us in connecting and enhancing resources to prevent and reduce overdose deaths. Together we can reduce opioid supply, reduce opioid demand, and save lives.
